Trucking Insurance for Amazon Relay, Intermodal and More

Looking for competitive trucking insurance for intermodal, dry van, reefer or auto-hauling operations? Somra Insurance Agency has exlusive access to a B rated AM best rated risk retention group which is accepted by Amazon and is approved with IANA for intermodal truckers. Each trucking company must still meet Amazon’s insurance and onboarding requirements.

Start with a trucking insurance quote from Somra Insurance Agency. Tell us what you haul, where you operate and which brokers or equipment providers you work with so we can review the right options.

What insurance do you need for Amazon Relay?

Amazon’s published requirements include commercial general liability of at least $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, auto liability of at least $1 million per occurrence with $50,000 trailer replacement coverage, and at least $100,000 cargo coverage. Amazon also lists workers’ compensation in operating jurisdictions and employer liability of at least $100,000 per occurrence.

Check Amazon Relay’s current requirements before buying or renewing coverage. Insurer acceptance alone does not approve your trucking company: operating authority, safety performance, policy terms and other onboarding conditions also matter. Somra Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency, not Amazon.

Intermodal insurance: review equipment-provider requirements

For container and chassis work, matching a policy to your operation means reviewing both UIIA requirements and the requirements of the equipment providers you plan to use. Do this before assuming a standard trucking policy is sufficient.

The UIIA insurance requirements specify $1 million commercial general liability and $1 million auto liability limits. UIIA does not accept a scheduled-only or all-owned-only auto policy; its listed acceptable options include any-auto, scheduled-and-hired, or all-owned-and-hired coverage. Additional-insured requirements, cargo coverage and equipment-provider conditions also need review.

Ask us to review your proposed intermodal work, provider list, endorsements and interchange exposures when preparing a quote. Availability and acceptance depend on the specific insurer, policy and equipment provider.

Coverage questions for dry van, reefer and auto hauling

  • Dry van: Identify the commodities you carry, the highest load values and the requirements in your broker contracts. Ask about cargo exclusions and deductibles.
  • Reefer: Tell us which temperature-sensitive products you transport. Ask specifically about refrigeration breakdown, temperature-related loss, exclusions and operating conditions; do not assume ordinary cargo coverage includes every spoilage scenario.
  • Auto hauling: Provide the number and value of vehicles carried per load. Ask how the proposed policy addresses loading, unloading and damage to transported vehicles.

How to compare trucking insurance prices

A useful quote comparison includes more than the premium. Compare limits, deductibles, covered vehicles, approved operations, exclusions, payment terms and required endorsements side by side. A lower price is only useful if the policy fits the work you intend to do.

For an accurate quote, have your DOT and MC numbers, vehicle and trailer details, driver information, loss history, operating radius, commodities and broker requirements ready. Somra Insurance Agency can help you organize those details and review available options. Pricing and eligibility depend on underwriting.

Frequently asked questions

Can Somra Insurance Agency help with insurance for Amazon Relay?

Yes. Our agency has verified Amazon acceptance of an insurer available through us. We can help review your proposed coverage against Relay’s requirements. Final onboarding and compliance decisions remain with Amazon.

Does Amazon acceptance also mean a policy meets UIIA requirements?

No. Amazon Relay and UIIA have separate requirements. Intermodal equipment providers may have additional conditions, so your intended work needs a separate review.

Can I use the same coverage for dry van, reefer and auto hauling?

Do not assume that you can. Disclose every operation and commodity before binding coverage or changing the freight you haul. Ask your agent to confirm what the proposed policy covers.

How do I get a trucking insurance quote?

Contact Somra Insurance Agency or call 786-606-2080. Ask for a quote for intermodal, dry van, reefer or auto hauling, and let us know if you plan to work with Amazon Relay.

Requirements checked September 23, 2026. Coverage is subject to policy terms, exclusions and underwriting. Program requirements and insurer acceptance can change; confirm them for your operation before binding coverage.
